Oklahoma Insects
OKC Zoo Mobile App & Kiosk Interface
PROBLEM
The Oklahoma City Zoo currently lacks an insect exhibit. This project capitalizes upon this missed opportunity to help instill a curiosity for nature.
CONCEPT
Growing up, my mom often took me out to enjoy nature, and she would always allow me to be curious and explore. I always had an interest in bugs and was rarely afraid of them. I believe an early connection to nature is important. This symbol system and interface are the beginning of bringing that educational and nurturing experience to the OKC Zoo both up close and from afar.
SOLUTION
To create a symbol system, interactive poster, and mobile application to bring a new educational and nurturing experience to the Oklahoma City Zoo.

INSECT SYMBOL SYSTEM
Twenty insects from Oklahoma were chosen and adapted into an illustrated symbol system to be housed within the interfaces.

ONBOARDING / TUTORIAL
A tutorial was developed to guide users, as well as, a link to the app store to allow the app to be accessible on mobile devices directly from the poster.
INSECT INFORMATION / CAMERA
Insect descriptions will serve to inform the audience, while a camera feature allows the zoo guests to document and share their journey.
GUEST PHOTO SHARING / MAP
A digital map provides a simple solution to a complex area. Exhibits are divided and can be expanded for more information.
